This book did not convince me that Jessica Simpson is smarter than she appears which seems to be the line that many reviews are trying to sell We ve all seen enough semi scripted reality TV not to think she really is the dumb blonde she played on her Newlywed show with her first husband Nick Lachey I assumed that was all an act But there is little in this book to explain how she had the business smarts to build her multi million dollar clothing empire Saying her mom just picked out clothes she would wear is not sufficient On the other hand there are dozens of pages about following boyfriends who treat her like dirt about endless parties about drinking at 8 am It s sobering in every sense of the word

I read a lot of reviews that said this book was amazing I started reading it and it was okay at best I mean there were some interesting stuff but the majority were things that were already in the news Nothing really new and to be honesty I felt like she came off a little stuck up and overly religious I actually like her less after reading this book I wouldn t recommending this book at all It was a bit if a waste

I was surprised at how well Jessica writes how open she is and how interesting her life story is I couldn t put the book down I found it very inspiring how she overcame childhood sexual abuse body issues and self esteem issues which resulted in some very unhealthy relationships and her abuse of substances to numb the pain It is a story of emotional courage and love of God her family and friends and ultimately of herself I wish I had been able to read this when I was young What a help and support It would have been
