Very well written book with a lot of details references to the original sources and thrilling development throughout the entire story Another important point to make is that Helen Rappaport managed to convey the Russian feel of this tragedy which was surprising for me to receive from a Western writer I m Russian A lot of respect to the author for such an amazing work

This is the first book I d ever read on the Russian Revolution and the Romanovs and it was gripping The telling of the families last days numbing bordem and growing sense of hopelessness and fear in those trapped in the house as well as the brutality of the revolution itself is vivid I particulally liked the chapters on the lives of the family and their remaining companions before captivity I think because you know where it s going it s all the tragic Supurbly researched and written
