Picturing Perfect: An Australian Small Town Romance (Meet the McIntyres Book 2) Free read È 104 Rebecca Barber Ä 4 Summary Mance novel from Australian author Rebecca Barber complete with a sassy heroine and determined hero who refused to take no for an answer It's the second book in the MEET THE MCINTYRES series I enjoy the sarcasm and wit between the characters in these books and it is entertaining to say the least But what I really love the most is the abject loyalty that holds them together Goodreads ReaderThe characters are amazing genuine real and funnyGoodr I was looking forward to reading this book after enjoying book one in the series Sadly Picturing Perfect fell short of my expectationsThe book is well paced and flows easily People places and emotions are described thoughtfully My challenge with this book is that it barely makes it into the romance genre for me and based on the book blurb I feel cheatedThe romance between Gage and Carly is little than a blip on the radar They cross paths at approximately the 5% mark in the book At the 86% mark I stopped to reflect and without flicking back through the book I could only think of one other time they spent together alone And that was 10 minutes in a car together What little time they do spend together is generally in the company of others and rarely did I feel their attraction to one another went much beyond the physicalThe book spends a lot of time focusing on friends and other family members especially Beau and Payton book one hero heroine All this information works if you re looking to read a multi generational family saga book but I was forever waiting for the story of Gage and Carly When they do finally get together it happens very uickly and focus shifts to laying the foundation of book three Barber writes a great sex scene but it s little consolation I wanted to spend time with them as a coupleMy other frustration is a carry on from book one And that s the use or rather lack of use of Aussie language The book is set in an Aussie town and was written by an Aussie author Barber does a great job of introducing readers to boofheads and about people pissing in your Weetbix She even has her characters wearing thongs on their feet but her use of the word ass drove me insane I firmly believe that arse is the appropriate Aussie term whether you re talking about a person s backside or think they re an idiot To be subjected to the word ass in excess of 120 times yes 120 in this book just about killed my desire to readLooking forward yes I want to read the next book in the series because I do think Barber writes very well However if Holly s book ends up similar to the plot and focus in this one then that s where I will part ways with the series
